Summer 2021

I'm trying something new!

Beginning to use acrylics (It's my neighbor at a wedding.)

Painted on my grand-cat's birthday.

From a series of 12 using only alizarin, yellow, black, and white

From a series of 6 using many forms of texture

Self-portrait using palette knife

From an additional series of 6 on texture, this time using watercolor.

Used palette knife, cardboard, etc. to apply paint

Pencil, charcoal, watercolor

Inspired by the simplification and dramatic lighting of Anzalone

Exercise using underpainting

More underpainting, inspired by Sonia Barton

Use of several kinds of contrast (color, tone, texture,  saturation)

Missing my choir, I collaged song lyrics

Studies using contrast

Facebook reminded me of this photo and I liked the reflection

Enjoying using texture in the background

Series exploring effects of saturated/unsaturated colors, warm & cool colors, lights & darks
Using texture for contrast
First time to use oil pastels. Like them.

So then I thought I'd try soft pastels, too.

Working in a series in acrylics. First, realistic, then looser with texture.
Next, added collage and stenciling, more abstraction.

Olive trees in St. Jean de Moirans. Used sponge, palette knife, fingers.

From a series of abstracts using several layers of collage, paint, lines, stencils, etc.
